This is one of the important sri lankan ramayana places with more significant in the history which is located in the Trincomalee town. the epic of ramayana depicts that Lord Rama stopped at this place On his way of return with Sita to Ayodhya, to reach Thiru Koneshwaram temple.

And also ramayana facts states that he rested his bow on the ground here. According to Tamil language, Vil means bow, and Undri means resting, in which it creates this place name as Vilundri.
